Powerstax

The
company
The end user was a manufacturer of 100% recyclable,
durable, state of the art lighting solutions for environmentally-aware
Architectural, Retail, Security, Safety and Eco-tourism
sites where energy cost, ambient heat reduction and
ultimate durability are key requirements.
The
Application
The lighting manufacturer launched its new, fully dimmable
MR16 lamp replacements, which reduce heat output by
80% and use 75% less energy. Designed for hospitals,
the system required high efficiency to meet the UK Part
L regulations on conservation of fuel and power in buildings.
To enable the company to develop prototypes into production
designs, the customer went looking for a power supply
company that was able to fulfil the specific requirements
that were essential for this new LED lighting technology.

The Turnkey Provider
Initially, the manufacturer was seeking a compact AC to 12VDC
power module for a special new LED lighting system. The ability
of Powerstax to provide rapid, cost-effective value-added
power solutions secured the complete power supply for a major
new product with a leading edge LED lighting manufacturer.
The Powerstax Solution
Powerstax provided one of their trademark added value systems
comprised of a high efficiency, ultra-compact 10W AC to DC,
universal input voltage, encapsulated power supply mounted
on a PCB with a variable LED driver circuit to adjust the
output in order to vary the intensity of the LED light. When
in full production the whole unit will be a lead-in, lead-out
“lump in a cord” design with a remote control
interface.
Powerstax,
by acting as an extension of the customers R&D team, helped
reduce the time-to-market. And, Powerstax Far East mass production
also means cost savings for volume production of the lighting
system. This allowed the customer to focus on his core competence
and leave power to the Powerstax experts. |
